I'm interested in try this stuff and wondering if it's possible to apply it on top of regular shellac. Anybody? |

Run: I have used it over non Ubeaut shellac but the initial application was pretty thin. The Ubeaut was done within a couple of days after the non-Ubeaut. It works as advertised and gets fairly hard. However should you want to do a touch up or repair after the Ubeaut hardens it is a no go. I have sprayed it and padded it on different guitars with good results except for the repair part. I have been told that on the one guitar I sprayed the finish might crackle after several years. The theory being that since there was no pressure during the application as there would be with padding it is not as dense. After one year it still looks good so we will see. I believe the instructions actually direct you to apply regular shellac first, and then apply the Ubeaut on top. |
