Hey all,
I can't begin to talk about how proud I am of this build. It is a commission for a client who is giving it to his gigging wife for their anniversary. One of the biggest directions I took early on in the process was to find a way to incorporate Purpleheart because it is his wife's favorite wood.

So I did.

Top is WRC. Binding is maple. Bridge and fingerboard are rosewood. Everything else is purpleheart. Inlay, radial purfling, tuner buttons.... it's a whole lot of purple.

And it sounds fantastic. Tone is VERY similar to a EIR/WRC guitar that I copied for this build.

The finish has to be as close to a perfect one as I've done so far.

Very nice work, David! Everything is so clean and in sharp detail.

Did you make your own tuner buttons?

Everything was from scratch.
Got the board from a local lumber yard and milled away.

Nice!
I like the rosette which has the spruce top stop and start,
or did you line up the grain and build the rosette seperately?

Awesome! I really like all the purple. Props for making your own tuner buttons and stuff. Also love the purfling scheme. The bindings look like they could use some more rounding over to not be so sharp, but that's just a matter of taste.

What kind of finish is that? Looks nice, not excessively shiny but not icky satin either. Just right :)

very nice work. Practice certainly makes perfect. Looks like a beautiful top. I wonder how thick you kept the cedar?

Very nice.
What thickness did you made the back and sides.
Was it easy to bend?

Very nice work! However, the above is a valid question, PH is well known to fade to brown. Have you figured out how to avoid this? I would love to use this beautiful wood.

I just heard from the owner that the Purple is as beautiful as the day she opened the case.

The board i cut for the instrument is still in the shop and is still quite Purple.

Hope that helps

I really like your rosette. It's got the quality of motion. Excellent.
