I just bought the plans for the olf-sj, which are very well made plans I must add. And I am considering making a 12 string with the body template. If anyone could give me some thoughts on the matter it would be most appreciated.

I think it would make an excellent 12 stringer. I'm sure Ive seen people do this on the forum.
Just have to brace/thickness the top with the extra tension in mind, depending on the tuning/strings you plan to use.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
