I bought that exact unit three years ago and it's one of the best investments I've made. I set up the stand, dropped on the drum unit on tested it out right away. It ran just fine and needed no adjustment. I use 80 grit and take multiple passes instead trying to hog off a lot at once. You should really enjoy it Brent |

Despite having bought a commercial drum sander several years ago, I still have my home made one and I still use it a surprising amount - enough that I wouldn't consider selling it. It's handy for when you want to push things only part way through to make, for example, the wings on a bridge or to reduce the thickness of a head. I can also sand smaller items without having to tape them to a support board and sometimes it just happens to be there with the right grit sandpaper and is easier at the time to use than the other one. Would LOVE to keep my great 'Pat Hawley' thickness sander but simply have no room for 2 sanders. |
