I know this is the wrong thread but does anyone know much about banjos? I was given what I think to be a 1950’s Kay banjo. I don’t know really anything about banjos but it looks to be in good condition. Needs new frets and the neck angle is off but I think I can get it in a playable condition...with some guidance. Thanks in advance. Attachment: IMG_2132.jpg Attachment: IMG_2133.jpg Attachment: IMG_2134.jpg Attachment: IMG_2135.jpg Attachment: IMG_2137.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't know anything about Kay banjos, but that bar looks like my kind of place. |

The bar actually brings to my wife’s mother. If you’re a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, this is your bar. We’re waiting on Jonnie VanZant to walk in now that they’re “retiring” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Neck angle is easy to change on those--there's probably a metal contraption with an arc between the heel and the rim. If you loosen the screw going up into the heel, the neck will pivot along the arc of the metal thing to change the neck angle. when it's set like you want, tighten the screw back. You might have to loosen the strings a bit before you do this. It's actually one of the most effective neck angle adjusters I've seen on any instrument, and it was on pretty much all of the Kays.
