Torrefaction is actually an established way of treating coffee beans. There is some interesting reading on the internet regarding what torrefaction does for energy sources. But that reading also sheds light on some of the problems associated with using torrefaction on tonewood. For instance, torrified energy pellets resist the absorption of water. That can be an issue for some of the things we do when building or finishing a guitar. Manageable problems, I’m sure, but potential headaches if ignored.
