That's a guitar anyone would be lucky to own. Beautifully done.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Thanks guys. I should call it "Blond Ambition"... I found this nice figured maple board and decided it needed to be made into a guitar. My original inspiration was this guitar...

But, I decided to forgo the maple fingerboard and bridge and go with ebony. It has a black and white thing going. Rather than contrasting binding, I went with maple.
