Could someone who does more building than me (or who has a better memory) remind me... it's the Stew-Mac cutter (and not the LMI version) that gives you more depth, for cutting the purfling and binding channels, correct? Or did LMI go to a deeper cutter as well? Ah... when memory starts to go... TIA, Ken |

If you are asking about the router bearings, The LMI set gives a maximum depth of 0.230" and the StewMac set gives a maximum of 0.210". |

Hi Jay, no, it's a question of how deep (vertically) the bearings will reach, so you can cut the binding ledge, then cut the purfling ledge without the wheel falling into the first channel. One or the other had an issue with reach, but may have remedied it by now(?). I noticed that SM has a small collar that you can use to get more contact between the wheel and the side. That's the issue that I'm concerned about. |

Ok, sorry for misunderstanding your question. I don't know which has the larger vertical reach. I've always cut the purfling ledge first and then the binding ledge so the vertical reach isn't a concern for me. |
