Never seen a planer quite like that before, can it actually do thin tops as well? |

They're called super surfacers. Back in the 80's Fine Woodworking (when it was printed in B&W & good) reviewed smaller machines by Hitachi & Makita. Kevin Looker |

The bread slicer was really cool too though I can get more then 4 per inch on my resaw, but still in a factory environment you could really process some wood with that thing. |
