Playing my arch top for about a week now, and a noticed that the strings are a little higher. Easy adjustment with.screws in the bridge, but the bass side bridge foot isn't flush either. Under the bar it fits. I'll have to pull off of and re-fit it. Common movement? How long until it stops? Clearance.under the FB extension is less too. Not too close yet. It sounds good. Very resonant. Yes, I am stupid and it is upstairs in dry air. I am too! |

Do you have a gauge to measure relative humidity? You probably need a humidifier, but you definitely need a way to measure it first. |

Hi Ken! I went back to that build thread on that guitar you posted and I think with that much arch it will stay close to where it is now. In 2008 I built a Weiss style, in a garage, with it raining, concrete floor was damp, and the top sunk down at the waist at least 1/8" to1/4". I asked folks on the forum why, and they said "humidity issue". So, I learned the biggest lesson on that build. It hasn't got worse, sounds great. 5/16" string height at nut, 9/16" saddle height from top, 13-56 g strings. 25" scale. All pretty extreme factors. Top braced with slightly heavier braces than the plans called for. Someday I might fix it. Make notes, watch the git settle in, and adjust future builds. It's what building is all about. Alan |

I did just notice that the bridge isn't off much, it actually tilted some while tuning up. Something you notice on violins, but didn't expect. I had to check what I have, it's been a long time since I drew it up. 25.25 scale, light 10-47 strngs , the bridge is .95 above the top. The action is low. |
