I’ve been working on this a while. Thanks to those who have given advise on building such a thing. I’m enjoying the unique challenges of no sound hole!... kinda Sitka Walnut Bloodwood Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Very cool top. It really takes advantage of there being no sound hole. |

That’s why I used it on the guitar, but which is an experiment in a lot of ways for me. If you look there is a fairly dark streak in the upper left bout... on the inside there is a slight ... pocket,,, in that line, it doesn’t go through and there is a brace DIRECTLY on top of it. I’m enjoying trying something different. I got this and 5 other similar sets from ALASKA tonewood (sponsor here)... the other sets don’t have flaws like that. Potential ... if it really gets dry I could see it cracking there... I think after shipping the tops came to $35 a pop. Not super tight grain, but still cool tops for a learning builder. Oh and.,, There is a special “feature” in this one There is also a smaller sound port on the other side upper bout... I call it a feature because some how it ended up on the wrong side haha I guess that’s one of the perks for building instruments for me:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey Snow, I've had a few tops, and some backs with sap pockets, and small knots that aren't tight. It seems like some of the better spruce has it. Cherry is prone too. I like to leave the sap pockets for character. What I do is to make a chalk fit patch on the inside. A small round gouge works great for it. Make the patch so it goes within .015-.03" or so of the top surface, and glue it in place. You'll never worry about it again. I even put it in my violin making blog. Horrible photos but you get the idea. https://violinsbyken.blogspot.com/2014/06/sap-pocket.html |

Booboos fixed action all set and DONE!!! This is the first time I’ve played one of my guitars and thought “wow this plays and sounds GREAT”! Maybe 16 is the magic number to really start making instruments and not just boxes in the shape of guitars. I also installed a Baggs ibeam pickup (although I of course don’t have a 9v) NEXT!
