For those here who own 6 x 48 belt sanders, what brand/model do you have? Thanks. |

Mine is a Jet J-4210K with a 10" disc. I like it a lot. The attachment is for thinning headstocks, scalloping brace ends and that sort of thing. |

20 year old cast iron made in USA Delta... It's a beast! You can find these on Craigslist-you just have to be patient. I also have a Taiwanese Powermatic 6 X 89 that I use more than the 6 X 48 becase it flips up to give me a 90 degree table. |

One of the tall ship shops I work in has a 1 year old Jet that has the belt and a 12" disc. Heavy machine, very stable and smooth, easy to change belts with one handle so changing grits is easy. Never seems to need belt alignment even when switching. Dust collection is not the best. WE have the 1.5 HP motor because we are working on big pieces of very hard wood, but less would be fine for a guitar shop. Seems to be this one: https://www.jettools.com/us/en/p/jsg-6dck-6-x-48-belt-12-disc-sander-with-open-stand/708599K Ed |

I should take a pic and post it but our's is over 50 years old and was Dan Erlewine's Dad's back in the day. This is one of the tools that was used in the ground zero Luthier development that happened in our area in the 60's. Not only Dan got his start with our belt sander and in Ann Arbor but Bryan Galloup and Dan were early collaborators and so too was Herb David. Herb's was where John Lennon visited and Clapton with his Paisley SG. Our shop is part of this heritage. Anyway my home shop had for a while, I no longer have it because I intentionally downsized when I got a commercial, well equipped shop a RIKON that worked great for me when I was building. No issues with it and not very pricy either. |

Delta/Rockwell 31 series vintage 6x48. I don't run a disc with it. I also have a little 8" homecraft disc sander I modified to run very slow |
