Just thought share my new buffer that has replaced the original StewMac arbor in my shop. Wider 1" shaft, 14" buffs, low COG. https://youtu.be/UyW1qcHgimk |

Nice! Do you not find the pillow block cover gets in the way? I remember even with 14" buffs on a 36" axle, even with no cover, doing cutaways would get you perilously close to to the pillow blocks... |

Funny, I was actually thinking of doing a more fitted cover, with angles, etc, just for fun. The pillow blocks are actually inset closer than the StewMac Arbor (w/ 3/4" shaft). This, coupled with the wider shaft and larger buffs provides way more room, so it's all relative for me. One of the biggest benefit is the ease of moving it around because its lighter up top, and WAY less vibrations. I was asked to do a vid of it in action, so I'll work on that someday. |
