I used to be able to buy 1/4" square x 48" solid carbon fiber rod in bulk from CST. They have discontinued it and I'm looking for a new supplier. Can't buy from the regular guitar suppliers because I use a number of uncommon lengths. Any sources? Thanks, Bob

ACP composites has round and rectangular pultruded rods 48" (and longer) but don't list .25" square.

0.20 X 0.25 X 48 = https://dragonplate.com/dragonplate-car ... x-250-x-48

Not exactly what you want but close from the vendor I buy from.

They have .25 X .25 square tube Pultruded

I run the two strips of the .25x.25 hollow tube and the .2x.25 solid down the center of neck blanks and the .25x.25 tubes in slots about 1/4" to either side of the solid. I do that when not using an adjustable truss rod. Mostly classical necks or banjos but also in steel string necks when I want to avoid the weight of a metallic truss rod. No problems so far.

Quick answer from ACP. They don't have anything. Checking with Dragonplate. Seems to be lots of hollow square and rectangular tubing available. I've no experience with that. Anyone? Is it very flexible? I know it depends on size, but curious about feedback. This 1/4" solid stuff I use mostly on uke necks. It's probably overkill and maybe hollow would work.Stay safe! Thanks, Bob

Bob; I've been using 1/8" x 3/8" solid bar, on edge, for ukulele necks.....from dragonplate.....

Bob, I use .125 x .375 from Dragonplate. If your neck is at least 1/2" at the thinnest, it'll fit. Of course, I leave mine proud of the surface as it goes "into" the fretboard on the bottom by about 1/32 or a little more. The .200 is a replacement for that odd StewMac cf rod, that you needed their odd .200 bit.

Edit: ha! Same as Doug just posted. But mine isn't on edge.

Follow-up on Dragonplate. I did not realize that they are the folks that I see at the GAL and Asia selling the Gemini Carvers and their half round carbon fiber guitar neck reinforcement. They are very enthusiastic people about their products. The company Prez gave me an education about carbon fiber on the phone. He's a guitar player and really happy to talk to any of us about the use of carbon fiber in instrument making. I'm going to try a couple of their products as neck stiffeners.
