Wow. On the one hand, that's a lot of dough. On the other, the notes "bloom just outside the bass with a small explosion," so ... idunno

At those prices why not collect all four!

"When you play this bass you can literally feel the earth vibrate and your stomach rumble. It reaches so inside with its power and then takes you anywhere with its long low frequency and crisp notes. Each seems to bloom just outside the bass with a small explosion."

So if it doesn't do that can you send it back?

If you consider it as "art" the price is less than a bunch of bananas.

"An Italian artist duct-taped a banana to a gallery wall in Miami as part of the Art Basel festival — and it sold for $120,000. Actually, he’s sold two editions already."

This is an odd story. I have not seen Tom in quite a few years, but he is a really great guy and terrific builder. If anyone here hangs around the Healdsburg vicinity where he still might be,and knows Tom, it would be interesting to hear his side of the story.

It is clearly a gimmick. Just look how many of us are looking. I think I will try this. Nobody above 5 million yet:

I too know Tom. In fact Tom taught me to build guitars way back when. He builds inspirational instruments for sure. Maybe I need to raise my prices :). Tom has helped a lot of people from Kid's in trouble needing direction to us guy's just wanting to know how to build guitars. Tom's pretty much given his life to lutherie, I hope he gets it!
As Bob says he's a great guy and I also haven't seen him in a few years. Hope he's well.
