New month, new ELEVATE tool! Happy August! The ELEVATE Fingerboard Locating Jig is designed to take the guess work out of aligning a fretboard on a neck for glue ups. The jig easily and accurately locates in two different ways- via the truss rod slot or by clamping onto straight or tapered edges. This is achieve by utilizing either the included truss rod centering pins or by using the built-in articulating clamps. More images, information, and a video tutorial available on the ELEVATE site. Chris, as an old tool and die maker - I applaud your efforts. It's gorgeous, it's beautiful. I bet it works great - exactly as intended. But that thing is overkill. I've been doing the same job for decades with locating pins. |

I like it. I have used a similar technique with a homemade jig using the same principle for a long time. For me the accuracy and stability at glue up and clamping has been excellent. Only suggestions I might add would be to have a centerline scribed on the jig to verify/double check fretboard positioning when drilling the holes in the fretboard and rather than the one size fits all pointed dowels to center on the truss rod slot consider an option of 1/4” dowel pins as most use a 1/4” slot nowadays. Nice job! |
