How do you remove glue squeeze out when using a vacuum bag? For example, if you are gluing top braces using a dish. |

I'm sure there's different ways of doing it, but if I'm using yellow glue, I'll clamp in the vacuum long enough for the glue to set. Then I'll let off the vacuum, clean up the glue, and start the vacuum back up. If I'm vacuum bagging with epoxy, I'm laying up backstraps or something like that. I don't bother cleaning it up since I'll be cutting all of the squeeze out away along with wood later on. Dave |

Would "glue set" for you be about 30 minutes at 70F? |

That would work--I usually give it 15 or so, but at 30 the glue should still be soft enough to clean up fairly easily with a chisel. I like for glue to be semi-setup (not liquid but not hard) when I clean it--it doesn't leave nearly as much of a mess. But Titebond has usually been pretty well set at 15 minutes or so from my experience. Dave |

This issue is why I switched to a gobar deck. It is so much easier to clean up the glue and I feel like I get better clamping pressure too. As others have said, you need to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes -- then release the vacuum and quickly clean the glue -- then turn it back on. |

I also switched to a go bar deck for the same reason, but still use vacuum for bridges and laminating. Dave |

I also switched to a gobar deck for the same reason as toonces and dave. I would also waited 15 minutes to clean up the squeeze out, then put the vacuum back on. |

I tossed my go bar and use a vacuum press for braces; can't imagine using a bag for that. Hhg, 2 minute press, lift, clean, press 15 minutes. |
