I’d love to see the fixtures you use to hold guitars and necks for finishing when using a dovetailed neck joint. I can’t seem to visualize anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

James— My most recent guitar is a dovetail. I used the guitar holders that Stew Mac sells as extras for their rotisserie bar. For the body, I had to grind one side of the T to fit down in the narrow part of the mortise, then I drove a screw through it (they have slots) into the block to keep it in place. For the neck, I just screwed the T to the end of the tenon. Both worked fine. They fit on the end of dowels that are somewhat smaller than 3”4 in diameter. You can either use 5/8” or trim down a 3/4” dowel to fit inside the holder. |

Rout a fake dovetail and put it on a stick. The finishing nail stops it from sliding back out. Just a gentle tap to make it bite, dont need to drive it all the way in... |
