My Son In law brought over a guitar that he claims is a Taylor kit guitar. For the life of me I can't find a reference to Taylor ever offering a kit. The head shape looks like a Taylor but there is no head plate. The linings are laminated . The neck joint is a butt joint with (4) 6mm wood dowels. I think its a knock off but before I open my my big mouth I thought I would ask y'all. Thanks Dave |

I think the wood dowel neck joint is a give away. That would only come from the orient. |

It is probably a "Taylor" kit in the same sense as you have Chibson, PRS, Tele, Strat kits, etc. If things have gotten tougher with Customs they may figure kits are a safer bet than counterfeit guitars. People buy the kits, evaluate the components and make upgrades where they feel necessary. |

Taylor does make kits but they are dreds and are used in the STWM program and not for the general public . As stated before dowels are a dead giveaway for the cheap chinese kits |
