Interesting. I have never tried gut strings on guitar before. I have taken a liking to the Aquila Nylgut strings though.

I have those on my archtop. I wanted to try the gut and silk one from them, but they only come from Italy, and pricey is one thing; outrageous shipping is another. I have the 800's on my little Stauffer, but I'm truing the frets, so I haven't heard the sound much.

Buying guts for the top 3 strings isn't too expensive. I'll try that one day. They sell the guts here, just not the silk basses, they are rayon or something. Their shipping is outstanding.

I watched a short little video of the guts on a guitar yesterday. I have no idea how to link it from my kindle.

This isn't the video I watches, or the same gut trebles, or the same guitar, It is the same player; and he has a wonderful touch.
