Well. I finished 23 last week, but haven’t done the obligatory beauty shots.
Overall this is the best instrument I’ve made to date. It plays and sounds great.
I still have LOTS of
Thing to tighten up tolerances on, but they are getting better each time:)

I give you… 23 (I realized the inside sticker looks like a Dr Pepper label after I had stuck it ha)

Looks lovely!. I take it that this is the one where you did the back & sides with Osmo oil, and the top is FP? I really like the way the finish came up.

Looks quite nice, and - Very - finely crafted. Honestly though, I keep thinking how much better it would look with a gloss finish. The workmanship deserves a high end finish.

I’m still up on the air on it. I pulled off the oil and fp and had very VERY few finish flaws… I haven’t had results like that w wm6000 . I do know it’s a practice and technique thing

Excellent, and I like the look.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

That is a nice, clean looking guitar. Got some Osmo oil to try but have to admit I'm on the fence about it as compared to my usual FP which is a medium gloss, I would say.

Looks good Snow. Nice inlays, purfling, rosette. I like the finish. That slotted head came out nice too. Is that your second?
Mine with the satin Osmo came out more of a semi-gloss. Certainly not like the satin guitars I've seen in stores. I put the final coat on heavy, and buffed it with a cloth before it got dry. They don't say to do that, but who follows rules? Not me. The finish is still very thin.
I think they sell a cleaner/restorer that you can apply if it gets wear, or dull. I haven't tried that.
Been making violin varnish the last few days. That's smelly sticky stuff. I'll be glad when I'm done.
