Michael and Brandon’s recent necks finished in OSMO inspired me to try it. I ordered the smallest amount. Here it is, quarter for scale: It’s an adorable little container. Is it enough for a neck? Brad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Some oil finishes go a long way. Stealing someone's post from another site: Mick S Mick SMaster Poster Mentors 2.1k ....Santa Fe, NM Posted March 1 On 3/1/2021 at 9:29 AM, Chestnut said: Their "trial" size of 4.22 oz is $20 on woodcrafts site which is better but also absurd. So i do find it surprising that woodcraft is carrying it. I had a student last semester who had the same hesitation about the price, never having used it before, and wondering if the trial size would be enough for the ash coffee table she was making. I convinced her to try by telling her I'd buy it from her if she didn't like it. She put two coats on her coffee table and had ⅔ of the trial size 4.22 oz can left. Everyone, and I mean everyone asked her what she used on it. |

That stuff will do several guitars. It goes a long time way. Keep i. Mind when the wood stops absorbing the oil it’s sealed and done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Snowman, You could top coat that guitar with satin if you decide you want to bring up the shine. You could try it on the headplate and steel wool it off if you don't like the look. |

I bought a bigger can for my basement steps. Then my wife wanted them shinier. So I used the small can of satin and it took maybe 1/2 of the can! But that is 33 square feet. Violin varnish is sold in 1-2 oz jars for $75 and up. They say 6-7 grams for each coat on a violin, and 20 for a cello. 28 grams in an ounce. Like everything else there is a learning curve in using it. Getting the base (ground) to look good is one thing. Getting the right amount of color, texture, shine, and depth is another, especially if you only do one or two a year. Osmo is pretty easy. I'm wondering how it would look over my ground. |

I think he means you could put satin Osmo over the Osmo you have already done if you want to bring it up to satin. Not to re-do the FP on the top. |

I think the top looks good. The back and sides don't look horrible, but I think a bit more shine would show them off better. Plenty of people have said they like it as it is. It is a very good looking guitar. I've done a few instruments with a Danish oil finish. After awhile they started to look "dry". It was easy to recoat - oil does have that advantage. OSMO oil may act differently. |
