| Post subject: | Touch-up SilverTip pore filler sand-through |
Does anyone have a technique they like for touching-up a sand through of System 3's SilverTip Epoxy when using it as a pore filler? I have not applied my topcoats yet (Enduro-Var). I used a gloved pinky finger and smeared a thin layer of SilverTip over the bare wood, but it still looks too light. Thanks, Bill |

CA. I've used it then I had to repair a neck with dents where I had to sand the finish off and steam them out. It originally had a clear epoxy filler. Sand finish off dents and surrounding area, then CA, sand level, then refinish over the whole (sanded) neck (EV) Owner couldn't believe it, he just couldn't find where they were. |

The one time I sanded through Silvertip it was on the heel of a mahogany neck and I did the same thing you did. In that case, it worked. If you haven't moved ahead since you posted your question yesterday, you might try wiping the whole heel area with naptha or ethanol to see if the color evens out. If does look even, then it may look even under the Endurovar too. |

Not related to silvertip, but sometimes you can steam out dents by using a razor blade to take a few small slices through the epoxy (and finish) to allow the steam to get to the wood, without having to remove the finish. You still need to do some touch-up, but not as much, and you don't remove the patina the wood has taken on. |
