No photo. I was on their website, and they seem to sell 8 different ones. So I'm wondering which is the one we're supposed know and love as luthiers... |

I have two—a very old one ( probably 1950s—it’s sticky outside of the 40-60% range and I din’t trust it anymore) and a more modern one (maybe only a couple of decades old). The technology in them, and in the new ones, seems to be the same. It’s a hair on a windlass driving gears to drive the dial. So, in spite of the different models and the name changes through the years, they all ought to be equivalent. So, pick one. I went to the Abbeon page where they have a synthetic hair hygrometer with the same specs as the others for significantly less money. But, LMII has the standard one on sale now for a very good price. Remember that even though it says it’s calibrated, you have to calibrate it when you get it and about every year thereafter. |

Here's the one I've used about the last ten years. AB167. I like it. Never off by 5-7% when I calibrate every one or 6 years. Attachment: AbbeonAB167.jpg

I have owned an Abbeon with just a hygrometer (no thermometer) for quite a while. I recently bought a new one, with a thermometer. LMI had the best price. Not only does that give me comfort that it is a good hygrometer for guitar making, but I saved some money compared to buying one from other places. I just looked, and LMI has them on sale lower than what I paid a few months ago. Carpe Diem! Go buy one! |

Mine is an AB167, bought used awhile back. I checked the calibration last month after doing it eighteen months ago, and it was very close to right. They seem to take awhile to settle down in a new environment, in my experience (?) . |

This one has performed flawlessly for me since 2007 when I bought it at Elderly. I calibrate it once a year with a wet bulb test and if it's off at all it's only a few percent annually. Fischer from Germany makes good ones too that cost a bit less and Mario recommended one and I bought it and it's great too. |

I’m running a Fischer human-hair hygrometer, it’s slightly more accurate (like a percent or two) compared to a synthetic hair hygrometer but requires more maintenance. Either type of hair hygrometer works great as long as you have a way to check and recalibrate when required - I have a cheap sling psychometer which I pull out every now and then as a sanity check. |
