Post subject: | DeWalt Saw Part Help… |
So my little job site saw has gone kaput. I found it an excellent tool for making fingerboards, and would like to repair it if possible. The problem is that the blade can no longer be raised. The shaft leading to the sort of angle gears that turns the threaded shaft that slides vertically into the outside of the motor all works fine, the threads of the raising shaft appear to be ok, but the hole in the part on the motor that is supposed ride those threads up and down to raise and lower the blade seem to be completely stripped. Does anyone know what that part is called so I can see if i can repair it? |

I’ve had good luck googling to find exploded parts diagrams of most common power tools and larger machinery. Often third party spare parts vendors publish them on their websites. |

I’ve shopped e replacement parts sites many times and mostly satisfied, but some parts are very over priced. When you find the manf part number check Amazon before ordering. |

Any way you could drill out the case and replace the stripped threads with a Heli coil ? Parts seem to be unavailable by design from many of the manufacturers - they change the model by the time the tool needs repair and replacement parts. |

From the site Alain provided, I was able to find that the part is called a gear case, is readily available, and only costs 56$. Knowing what the part was called lead me to be able to find that the max repair cost is 260$, which is certainly worth to compared to replacement. I don’t really understand the modern trend of coming out with a solid product and then making every iteration less and less good until it’s just garbage. Alas… |
