Saw these on a video series I started watching. Stopped the video, and said "What is that?" Bench dog camps so you aren't limited to the vise, you can be right in the center of the bench. Never seen them before. There are other ideas on this series so far. Interesting. Anyone used these? What kind do you like/use? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c8YsEe9Ep ... =1&pp=iAQB |

Cool! I've seen Veritas Wonder Dog's. These appear to be similar but of a different make. |

I just saw these Recessed Bench Stops while looking at the other Veritas options available. Could be a very good planing stop for tops and backs. |

One of the handiest tools that uses bench dogs is the Black and Decker workmate. It incorporates a vise into the bench top and folds up to make for easy transport or storage : https://www.homedepot.com/p/BLACK-DECKE ... /202516379 With the right padding it might make a good troji - oh! someone has already done that: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/332773859943164971/ |

I have a Workmate, and used it as my bench for my first few violins. I wanted to try a cello, and guitars, and the Workmate would walk all over the floor. When I saw a bench at Woodcraft for sale with a free cabinet, I bought it. The Workmate holds my Jet air filter now! It is close to the bench and at the same level. The dogs are about .03" to big for the dog holes in my bench. |

I use the Veritas ones from Lee Valley. I don't use them for plate joining but every once in a while they are the perfect solution to some impossible clamping situations along with a 3/4" brad point drill and a few bench dogs and your bench vice. If you ever had a bench dog hole that was not the right distance for your workpiece these can be a quick remedy. |

I have 3/4” dog holes on my heavy woodworking bench (2.75” thick) and also drilled into my table saw outfeed table (3/4” thick). Here are a few clamps I have for use with the 3/4” holes. The orange(made by Armor tools) one is similar in function to the clamps in the video but is taller, which can be a drawback. It works great in the thick bench but has a tendency to rock in the 3/4” work surface so the workpiece does not stay flat on the bench. The clamping force is adjustable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
