Post subject:  Rope binding, looking for tutorial

Hello,

I'm new here and this is my first post.
In 1982 I made a copy of a Rickenbacker 320. The "John Lennon" model.
It has taken a real beating in its 41 years.
I decided that I will make all the needed repairs and refurbish the whole instrument.
One thing I really want to do is to remove the white front binding and replace it with rope binding,
like the Mexican "bajo quinto" guitars, in maple-walnut on both sides
Their binding tends to be wider than most rope binding. I do believe they apply the binding one piece at a time.
I'm looking for anything that will take me through the steps of making rope binding.

Thank you for any help,
Mike

for wide rope binding you may want to glue up the center section and glue up the border lines as the purflings are applied to the guitar. That makes the purfling easier to bend.
