Needed to sharpen small, short blades from finger planes like the one shown, with the Veritas MkIII jig. The Narrow-Blade Head clamps blades from the side.

Nice, re-using single edged razor blades, thrifty!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I use a ton of razor blades, but I'm not sure I want to sharpen them... But, it looks good for finger plane blades.

laughing6-hehe I don't sharpen them, I just wear them out to nubs.... though I have been know to strop one on more than one occasion laughing6-hehe

The narrow blade attachment does make it simple to sharpen wee blades!

I frequently touch up X acto blades on my ultra fine diamond plate. (no jig).

I guess my Scottish is showing... pinching pennies where I can... [:Y:]

I have a much cheaper version of that jig and they come in handy.
