This is a link to a video of the K Yairi factory. Lots of interesting stuff here, but seeing the bindings and sides bent together and the final buffing done after the strings are on were pretty interesting things to me as were the great Japanese hand tools...

Lotsa ways to skin the cat...

That was time well spent. Hot hide glue in a squeeze bottle sitting in the pot....who knew?

Tha's how Grumpy used to do it if I recall correctly? I'm also not going to lie to you guys. Their set-up is better than mine. :)

I do my hot hide glue in a squeeze bottle in the glue pot. A stainless steel bolt in the bottle keeps it floating upright. And yes, I learned that from Grumpy.

I like the heaters they have for tops, backs and other pieces they are gluing with hide glue. Impressive that a builder would choose hide glue and not go with one of the high tech, RF cured adhesives.

Lots of confidence removing the finish for the bridge. No masking and wielding a big curved chisel.

They rout their brace slots in the lining with a Dremel and the SM base just like I do. I use a squeeze bottle for hide too thanks to Grumpy.

Good video
