I'm having a tough time setting the blade on a small finger plane that uses a wooden wedge to hold the blade.
I'm either too deep or too shallow.
How do you do it?

Take a sheet of A4 paper and cut it in half. On a flat bench, put a piece of the paper on each side of the plane mouth. Push the blade to the table, set the wedge, boom, your blade is now set .004 out of the plane sole.

If .004 is too much, you can do the same thing with packing tape on the bench…

Tap on the back of the plane with a small hammer to move it in. Tap on the front of the plane to set the cut deeper. If it keeps moving in, tap the wedge tighter.

Here's a video of the process described by Koa above. A bigger plane admittedly, but the process should work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YiV-v49UVk
