I've never played an electric. I can see the draw; dial in different sounds. I like the baritone sound. I like cellos better than violins. I don't hear the dramatic difference in sound as much on the baritone stringing as on the standard stringing. A little, but nothing so dramatic. Maybe if they played the higher strings more. You never do get a crystal clear, ringing sound that you can get with a normal acoustic set-up. The floating bridge gives a different sound; but my archtop is a lot brighter.
But isn't annoyingly bright.
