I haven't posted in quite a while but I was impressed at the skill, tenacity and patience shown by this young Ukranian woman tackling a basket case restoration of an old Martin CTSH classical. I'm sure that few of us would even venture to tackle a restoration/repair like this but I'd surely like to know who taught her the skills she so deftly demonstrates. I would guess that the availability of newer instruments in Eastern Europe is limited and the ability to restore and repair instruments would be in demand. I was drawn in to watching this video until the end and wanted to see the end result. The last minute or so presents yet another challenge to her skill level...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5Dwh0MTt9g&t=1308s |

I restored a Gibson J45 with a top like that but I just retopped it, I would worry about the structural integrity over time. Still, it is a classical so it will probably be fine and I did enjoy watching the work. |
