I have 4 to choose from, and I can't make up my mind. Ivory, black, tortoise, and walnut that I made myself. My mind keeps going to the ones SM sells that have the bwb at the bottom. Im stuck.

Well, I finished making them, and I'm still not impressed. I have lots of beautiful wood, but all too short.ImageImage

Kinda hard to tell what it will look like rough cut and unfinished.

Why don't you sand the edge of your binding sandwich and give it a couple swipes of shellac, do the same to a cutoff of side wood and have a look for a little better eval?

You might like it or not but you will have a better idea of final appearance.

I've just made my own binding using quilted sapele I have left from the sides of a previous build. I just glued some thin BWB purfling to the bottom edge using TB3, to help prevent delamination during bending. Came out very well, I'm relieved to say.
