What adhesive do you use to hold down inlays when tracing their outline?

Very small dots of CA (smaller than a pin head). The number of dots depends on the size and shape of the inlay.

I do a dot of tightbond and hit the inlay with a heat gun to release it.

Most of the time I use very small dots of CA. Then I pop them up with a scalpel. For really fragile inlays, I use a small dot of titebond and a tacking iron.

Elmer's clear school glue, then use exacto knife to make pin dots around inlay. Chalk in the indentures lets you see outline while inlaying

CA dissolves in acetone, and that's the way to get those fragile inlays loose.

That can work for removing a K&K transducer too. Turn the guitar upside down and with a syringe saturate the area around the transducer with acetone. (Sorry about the thread drift).

That's a good idea. What sort of syringe do you use to keep the acetone from dribbling out and getting where you don't want it since acetone has such low viscosity?

I just used a small like 2.5cc syringe with a short section of iv tubing attached and long 25G spinal needle.

Guitar supported upside down on blocks and reached inside, positioned the needle by feel and saturated the bridge plate around the transducer. After a wait of several minutes a steady pull on the wires for a short period of time and they came loose.

I have only done it once. But isn’t the rule “see one-do one-teach one”?
