Anyone know what Taylor use?
Or perhaps someone has experience building with V bracing?
Looking at a youtube video, the reflection of a sunny window made it look like the top was pretty darn flat.
Worked on a 912ce builder's edition recently and it just blew me away.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Looks like experimentation time. All of my instruments are a 40’ radius top. Try one flat and try one at 40’. Personally I live for experimenting.

Thanks, I've found estimates between 40' and 65'
Taylor say "Different models of guitars have different geometry according to the needs of that model."
I have a 40' and flat should be no problem, Sagitta for 40/65 radius are ~1.5/1.0 mm for 15" lower bout, so I feel an experiment or two coming on.
The 912 I worked on lives in the area, so the owner (He's been extremely pleased with my work on several expensive guitars he owns) may be up for a visitation.
