The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Herman over on Acoustic Guitar Construction Forum had a post about this finish. Glowing review. https://acousticguitarconstructionforum ... php?t=3471. He lives in the Netherlands and has a website but I couldn't find it to send to you. I'm sure John Parchem or Dave Bagwell knows it. It is not available to us in the US but you should have access over there.

Sorry., I should have mentioned, I've been in touch with Herman and he has kindly given me detail of his finishing methods and is still using it
