Ouch, Anthony, that Brazillian sounds like it would make for one expensive meal. Wonder if you could still use it for backs and sides

I've never done Salmon on a plank, I know that Jason and the Family have tons (literally) of waist from the cedar tops they process, I should get me a bunch for the BBQ, good idea, thanks.

I'm still waiting for the wife to give the go ahead on the pesto, feta, sundried tomatoe recipe, she's liking the crab sauce right now, it taste great but it sure makes for a boring picture . I'll get one of the p.f.s.t soon, I promise.

Yum. Sockeye! The "best" of the salmon! It's one of the things I miss most about not living in the Pacific NW anymore.

Rod, a 30+ lb. salmon is a hoot on a flyrod. The largest I've caught was 38 lb. on the Chehalis in WA. Took 40 minutes to get it in, and I was one whooped puppy afterwards!

You know though Mark, I would trade a day here on the Fraser fishing for sockeye for a day in your neck of the woods fightin' brookies and trout on the 3 wt all day long.

Well, I said that I would post pics when we cooked up some sockeye, didn't do any of the recipes that I mentioned, but we did do fish and onion rings, deep fried.

Here are some pics.

Anyone have a really really good beer batter recipe? This one was good, but I'm lookin' for spectacular. I think also next time, I will cut the fish thinner, takes to long to cook the fish and than the batter is crunchier than I like.

So, just so you know, this post started on Aug 3, I have been fishing at least 10 times and have about 15 fish in the freezer, ready for the winter. Yummy.

Looks great, Rod. We don't get fried salmon in Arkansas. . I eat a ton of fried catfish every year, though.

Mmmmmmmm. catfish, fries, baked beans, coleslaw, and corn fritters. (and onions and hush pupppies, and sweet iced tea). Maybe topped off with a thick slice of key lime pie.    Sometimes I'm just too southern. If I was on death row, though, this would be my last meal.

Rod, If you ever want to come out, I've got a spare room, and you'd be most welcome here!

I'm 25 minutes from the Missouri - arguably the best trout river in MT, 20 minutes from the Little Blackfoot, and about 1 1/2 hours from the Madison, Jefferson, Gallatin, Beaverhead, the Clark Fork, the Bitterroot, and Rock Creek!

Lots o' fishing here...
