So in Jeanne's sad turned happy post about her leaving (sorry to bring it back up) there were many who (myself included) mentioned they had poor spelling. Well, I thought that I would let you all know that there are several web browser spell checkers out there, I have ie spell checker and use it most times I make a post (I think Lance mentioned this one some time ago, although, I don't know if he uses it )

So, here is the google search for web browser spell checking, you should be able to find one that you like.

Thought I would throw this out there.

PS, funny enough though, when I spell checked this post prior to posting, the ie spell checker didn't recognize "google", I mean, isn't that part of a computer dictionary by now?

Some of you guys need grammar check too...and spell checkers are only good if they know how to distinguish the proper word. Lots of words sound about the same but are spelled differently. Steer, stear, stare, as an example.

Not to mention "heel" and "heal." Or "steal" and "steel."

Then there's the always-dreaded "peek"," "peak" and "pique."
Yes, toshe splel cehck srue cmoe in hdany...
Alain's post reminded me of a bit of cognitive linguistics trivia I picked up along the way in my linguistics studies. Thought y'all might find it interesting.

Studies have been conducted which show that as long as a word contains the letters it is supposed to contain, and that it begins and ends with the correct letters, the human brain can reconstruct the words quite easily, rendering the text legible. Pure anagrams are much more difficult, however.

So, for eamxlpe, if I witre waht a seplinlg pruist mghit reagrd as gbibriseh, msot floks wlil sltil be albe to raed it whituot dfcilufity.

Best,

Mciahel

Michael, that's exactly what I had in mind when I wrote that reply! I remembered reading that as long at the first and last letters were correct, our powerful humain brains could still read the sentence...

Too bad we can't just have a look at braces on a top and know right away how the guitar will sound...

Have I mentioned I'm working on my secondary english credential?
There's a grammar test for you.

Something I believe as a creative-ish writer is that rules should be
broken. But one of my peeves is pronoun agreement.

I'm with you on that one, bro! But I fear making any further comments on that subject at this forum.

Alain, I figured you must have known about that little quirk of the human brain. Your post was done too right to be accidental.

Best,

Michael

O-h M-y!

What did I start here??

Please don't believe for a moment that it really matters. Now I feel badly - but I will get over it!

Please don't worry about your spelling and grammer here. Post, share, have fun, learn old tricks from oldsters and new tricks from noobsters.

Now, be careful, James. Some people here might be anti-noun!

I'm easily annoyed by grammatical errors, although I must admit I'm generally too lazy to properly re-check things I post on forums...
