Well, mister Zootman himself was kind enough to send me a new set of Anigre after last's weeks bending disaster! The day before yesterday I sanded the new set to aprox .075
I got the side nicely moist, wrapped in wet kraft paper and wrapped again with parchment paper to keep in the moisture. The bend wend easy, nice and slow at about 300F with a thermometer, followed Tony Karol's advise and the bend went as expected. Yesterday morning I took the side from the bender and it was PERFECT... so i put it in the mold and kept it there until I bend the cutaway side.
Well, last night I was getting ready to bend the other side when I went to take a look at my "great accomplishment" (bending Anigre) that to my surprise I found the anigre had split at the waist and upper bout while sitting on the mold!!!
Man, this stuff is stubborn... I am not the quitter type of a person, but don't have the time to waist with this! I've bent many sides before but never one like this!!
Officialy....I quit with the Anigre....
I may use the Camatillo I just got or something else!peterm38963.568287037

Sorry to hear about your problems with bending this wood Peter, hopefully, you'll be able to use your new set on a guitar without a cutaway, good luck my friend!

Sorry to hear that Peter. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. It might be that the sides came from a particulary stubborn piece of wood, or maybe the random grain of highly curled anigre just doesn't like to be bent.

I am really sorry to hear that. I had seen pic's of a curly Anigre Guitar built by Dana Bourgeois before I bought this wood. He described the wood as good as the best mahogany. The set he used had curl like curly maple. If you want to try once more I'll send you another set of sides. I feel really bad about this problem. I had similar experiences with one of the lacewood varieties - it either cracked, or burnt .. so I gave up and went back to a set of quilted Sapele.
