Thanks again folks! I'm !

Hesh: I do like the Carpathian. Mind you my experience is very limited, but this guitar sounds better than the first kit, and the first one from scratch. But it's also like comparing apples to oranges. My knowledge and skills are a couple of orders of magnitude better with this one. I plan on making two test guitars next - both mahogany, one with Carpathian and one with Sitka. I'll do deflection testing on the tops (been reading Left Brained Lutherie!), and try and carve the braces as close to identical as I can get them. Then I think I can make a more valid comparison.

Logo... I like the logo too - for what it is, which is just Mistral font tossed into WordArt and rotated counter-clockwise. But I've always felt it was just that, not my "real voice". So I've been working with Dwight Knowlton on logo, labels, and cards. Dwight did John Elshaw's logo, and I think did Brock's labels too. And I gotta say, the results so far are amazing, and the process has been most enjoyable. I highly recommend Dwight if anyone is considering developing or updating their "branding" as Dwight calls it. Hpoefully, we'll be done with the process in time to use his work on my next one.

Thanks again folks!

-Mark

Very good work Mark, clean and traditional I like it a lot. Any tips on the herringbone? Is it the stuff from Luthiers Merc? Did you use the hot water, nail and form method for the pre-bend?

Cheers

Kim

Kim,

It is the stuff from LMI. I bent this in my bender after spritzing with a little water, but for the next one, I am going to do it like Terry shows in this thread 'cause I had a bit of a problem with it twisting on me in the bender.

Thanks for that Mark,

Terry's method is very similar to that which I was referring only he uses clamps to hold the herringbone to the form instead of brads which looks to be a good idea as it would be faster and less fiddly.

Cheers

Kim
