Wondering how much to charge for inlaying 3 letters on the fretboard with Abalone, any thoughts? Nothing fancy just block letters.

Why not do it yourself. Buy the letters and inlay them. Check out this site.

I'm not a inlay person, but I think $50 is fair from a customer stand point. Maybe even $100 on the high end, but I think $50 is fair. This is from a customer standpoint and not a luthier. My .02.

I would charge the cost of the precut initials marked up at least 50%, then make an estimate of labor hours times $30.00 then adjust from there. Once the price is quoted it becomes firm. If you miss the time estimate you either win, or lose. On the next one your estimate will be closer. This works for me.

Is this in a new build? If so, I would probably chage $100 - $150 extra. However, if this is a custom guitar I would make sure my customer knew that this will limit his ability to return the guitar should he not want to keep it. After all, who would buy a guitar with someone else's initials on it?   

Any return would either be given less the amount required to remove / repair this customization, or would be contingent upon resale.

     I would charge between 50-75 with standard font and if I don't have to pull frets. If the font is delicate and the inlay more technical then maybe 75-100. If frets are involved ad $15 a fret.
    Should take about 15 - 30 minutes to do and then the fretting replacement time
