I've been out of commission for part of the week with a locked up lower back (better than what Hesh had!!), I finally caved yesterday and took some muscle relaxers at my wifes bidding (well that and she found the roller and was waving it around) and as always happens I slept most of the day and then crashed again last night (I feel like I'm running in slow motion when I take them). But today I was able to be up and around and start moving and working out the kinks, first of all on the classical I joined the back in preparation for sanding. This is some heavy zoot that Bob sent me some time ago:



I also joined some walnut but it's still clamped so I can't show it. I found that I lost my hide glue in the move so I had to run down and grab some from Woodcraft, it's been a year since I've made any and I have to tell you it feels good be out and doing real work again. We keep finding stuff that got lost in the move, we've torn apart our storage shed almost every weekend looking for something or the other...

While the glue was setting I played with the CNC, made a jig for doing headstocks and made some headstock templates out of hardboard, this was in preparation to actually cutting a real headstock in the CNC at some point in the near future:



I have not hooked up the vaccum yet (can't find the adapters, they are probably in the shed too!!! ;), the blue stuff is silicone fuel line, i'm tinkering with it to see how well it performs as a vaccum seal...

Then I played with inlay and got that working, only took me 10 tries to get everything to fit correctly:



The one problem I have right now is that it's dry here so I need to get some moisture into the shop, I've started the humidifier but it's got a ways to go to catch up. So I won't be gluing tops anytime soon , but that's OK I have lots and lots still to do with the CNC to get it all up and running.

As Hesh said, do not underestimate this back problem, i had to enter the hospital by ambulance last year for shoveling too fast!

That my friends is Cocobolo that Bob picked out special for me, I've been sitting on it waiting until I could get rolling with it, the sides are just as nice and I'll be sanding and bending those starting tomorrow.

I stopped for the day and am resting now, when my leg started to hurt I stopped , the wife shoved some more flexaril on me and it's getting better now. I'm not back to full capacity just yet and this down time is giving me more time to work on the CAD side of the CNC equation so there is a silver lining

Paul, I hope you are felling better soon. Been there, done that, didn't like it. The last time they thought I might have herniated a disc, but no thank goodness. After about ten years of constantly dealing with back problems I learned that the best way to take care of your back is to have tight abs, and get a decent mattress. Flexirel is your friend right now, but don't let it let you do too much and slow down the healing process.

I agree with Alain, you have a wooly mammoth trapped in the back set.
