I bought the felt block from LMI, in the french polishing section. You can cut different shapes to suit your fancy. Worked good for me.

I just scored enough linen to last me a while--my wife was throwing out an old pair of 100% linen trousers. As long as the color doesn't bleed into the shellac, I'm set.

John one thing to look out for with colored linen other than bleeding (which is the major issue for sure) it is harder to tell when or if the outer cover is picking up oils and stain from other woods. This should only be in issue during the spit coats when it would be easy to pich up color from like rosewood and trasfer it to spruce. Just keep a close eye out.
