Hi everyone! I'm getting ready to build another guitar, and I'm looking to find some good quality red abalam heart strips and rosette. Anyone have a recommendation for me? I'm also having trouble locating a red black red black premade purfling. Or even a red black. Every thing seems to be bwbw etc. Just black and white. Do I have to make these up custom? Thanks in advance. Hope everyones doing well.
Mark

Mark, I get almost all of my pearl products from Andy DePaule. Just Google DePaule Supply. Andy's a great guy and has some really nice stuff.

Gurian would be the guy to call for the purfling. He has a website where you can design your own, but you have to buy a whole layout of the stuff. Dont know if you want that much. Maybe go in with somebody with halfsies. www.gurianinstruments.com/

are you looking for red abalone heart ablam or red abalone heart strips.

if it is the latter the last time i looked ebay vendor candy033 had some up on his store. i have purchased from this australian vendor frequently and found rhem to be reliable sellers of quality product at extremely good prices.

i would also recommend depaulle's.

Try rescue pearl. Don't know the web address but they have everything.

Rescue Pearl...yep. They work directly with the Duke of Pearl, who is the Abalam guy.

I make my own blk/red/blk, or whatever as far as colours are concerned .. get the veneer, glue them up, then cut them. Unless you want them as side purf, then if possible, use a big piece of binding wood, and glue about a 3/4 inch wide strip of your colours ont he bottom, then slice up with a thin kerf blade, and voila - ready custom made binding/purf combo, ready to bend.

not sure if Andy has separate red ab heart, you could also try mopsupplies.com - he has lots of stuff as well.

No Andy DePaule does not sell ablam but if you want the real deal abalone in stead of laminated, Andy sells the best around any where. Andy is the Shellman

Yep, I mis-spoke. I knew he wouldn't touch abalam.
