A while ago there was a thread on using four piece bookmatches.I did one in macassar ebony. As wood is getting harder to find in wider widths it's a realistic option.

Brad, I wouldn't have known it is a 4 piece back if you hadn't said so. It looks real nice.

I agree...that's well done. Pretty, too.

Brad,

Nicely done, and I would never have known.

How will you do the reinforcement strips?

Jeff

thats a great job...you would have to look real close to see that is a four piece. While on the subject, would you put a reinforcement strip on each joint on 4 piece backs? I am assuming so

Brad,
that looks great, What kind of glue did you use? I have 20 or so Madagascar RW sets that are done that way and I am not sure what type of glue was used to join them but whatever it is it is waterproof and very strong...maybe gorilla glue?

In the past when I have done 4 pce. backs I did put a reinforcement strip on each joint, so I guess I'll do the same on this one.
I used yellow (titebond) glue to join them, never have had any problems. I am interested in using hot hide glue but have not gotten the courage yet.Brad Goodman38460.371712963
