Andy McKee Drifting on a Lowden, very nice performance. Anyone know about this guy?

Inspiration for the luthier to do well. Lowden convert.

Ahhh, lovely, lovely stuff...there it is again, that signature Lowden tone, amognst the crispy trebles. It's amazing, whatever shape the guitar is, it still sounds sonourous.

I think I'm gonna begin to save for a Lowden. Seriously.

I have got to do a Lowden/Non-Lowden comparison test. Be back later with some sound clips. I know a song that has been recorded twice, by the same artist, in the same studio, using different guitars.Sam Price39070.4921990741

Lovely sounding tones!
I couldn't see if the guitar was plugged in, but isn't that a pickup in the soundhole?
Once you get an 'electric' signal blended into the mix the guitar quality can get hard for me to discern. This one may be straight into the mic. However, having peeked at the soundboards being used these days at even quite 'ordinary' concerts, even mic sound can have a lot of processing.
The odds I'll ever get my hands and ears on a Lowden are zip, so this will do just fine.
Thanks.
John

Andy's a great guy. I feel he was robbed at the Canadian Fingerstyle Championships 3 years ago (won by Robert Taylor). And he finished 3rd, 2 years ago (won by Erick Turnbull). Always the bridesmaid...

In light of all the technical prowess, Andy has a great deal of respect for melody, unlike many of his contemporaries.

What has happened on YouTube in the past couple of days to warrant all the recent comments?

I love watching musicians who look like they're just genuinely having fun
while playing. :)

Brilliant.... I saved that to my "favorites".
I will definitely buy this guy's album.

Come to any Christian event in Ireland. Lowdens and Avalons are as thick on the ground as Taylors would be at an equivelent event in California!!

Ask Sam, She joined me at Summer Madness in Belfast last July and she spent the weekend pointing and whimpering!!!

Too true..

What was painful for me was seeing 75 kids running around in a room periously near a Lowden sitting quietly on a guitar stand...I know it's a guitar, but...

yep Andy is a wonderful guy and great guitarist ... he has stopped by my booth at the Cdn gutiar festival and played a bunch of stuff ... but he sure looks weird now without the Skynyrd style 'do he had 5 months ago .. and now a beard too ..Whoa ... probably stils wears one red and one black Converse hightop though    Has to buy two pairs and switch them up ... Kerry Livgren of Kansas fame lives down the road from him in Kansas (hey. like where else would he live ??)

That's some of the most amazing stuff I've heard (seen). I listened to some more of his stuff too. Can you recommend some other players similar to this? I have a hard time finding this type of music. More, contemporary folk or something of the sorts. I really dig it!!

And ditto the earlier sentiment... I should probably just start building exclusively and stop trying to play!! I am waaaay outclassed!!!

I listened to both Andy and the Robert Taylor spots. Both very impressive. I'm going to buy their CD's. And I agree, are there other players similar to this you can recommend?

The other two Canadian champs are worth listening to: Antoine Dufour and Erick Turnbull.

I like Eric Roche and Lucas Michailidis.

Classic recommendations from me would include Michael Hedges, Don Ross, and Pierre Bensusan.
