1. Build 3 new guitars for my self and to hopefully take to Healdsburg in 2008 and 5 commission orders permitting.

2. Become proficient in classical building.

3. Remodel the shop. At least the cutting room so that I can add a cabinetmakers table saw to my "toy collection" as my wife calls my tools.

I'm going to the Somogyi course next month. My goals will be based on what I learn from Ervin.

1) Get organized.
2) Finish what I've started (both the shop and unfinished guitars)
3) Build jigs.
4) Less time on the OLF so I can accomplish 1-3 above.

My goal for 2007 is to build my first acoustic guitar.

This is my first post to this forum, but I've been reading as a lurker for several weeks. I am a woodworker and a guitar player, so it has been inevitable that I would someday want to build an instrument. But I keep making excuses about how much time it will take. Recently I decided to "just do it".

I'm going to start with a kit for my first build. Over Christmas break I bought a mahogany kit from stewmac. And I spent a bunch of time cleaning and organizing my shop to prepare for the project. Once I figure out a decent way to keep the humidity stable in there, I'll be ready to go.

Well, let's see. Around Thanksgiving of '05 I put 4x4's into the ground in the dirt floor side of my pole barn.......all of '06 zip ....so, for '07 I'd like to repair the roof, partition off finished side of pole barn (half to be my fabrication room), build my assembly room on those 4x4's, build some jigs and tools..........and maybe start #1 before '08!
