Well folks, some of you were a bit worried about why i wasn't posting as much lately so i will deliver the fruits of my labor in the last weeks, a fire in block 8 had kept me away from the shop for almost 2 weeks, when i returned, iwas busy making a few jigs for fellow OLFers and myself and pursued the reorganization of my shop which is now more spacy than it was. I think Bruce Dickey once said that it takes a couple of years to get things set up in an orderly fashion, it will be 2 years of guitar making in march so i better get that shop better organized soon!

the main workbench on rebuilt bedframe base(now easier to roll aside or around)schmack in the middle of the shop, i took the time to add my guitar vise at the end of this bench, it was on another bench before but i think it will help me better on this one. I plan on sanding the top and repainting it white.

At the far end of the shop is(left to right) the zoot rack, the dust collection set up, the rolling go bar deck and the drum sander. you can also see a smaller vise and a little anvil at the othe end of my central workbench

Here is the other rolling workbench with bedframe and casters, grey drawers, it can be pushed around with one hand and i have installed my big Lee Valley vise in the middle of the bench, the grinder and the jointer/edger are on each side of it. Above the bench is my chisel collection, i made a rack for it, thanks to Arnt for his shop pic!

Right next to this bench is my 14" bendsaw on wheels and another workbench that is not on wheels, the side bender, drill press and a tray containing bolts, nuts and washers is on it, i also store metals and miscelaneous things in there that i use to build my jigs.

Now on this view, the cental workbench is moved to the left side to have a view of all the walking space i now have, we can see my awesome Ryobi BT3100 TS( ) and an old dresser with the 9" bandsaw that my Godfather gave me when i started building guitars.

One good reason to go back to this...

and give it to him!

Thanks for watching!

Serge

Looking good there Bud. I'm sure your eager to get back to building and finishing that guitar. It sure is looking good.

I really like your central bench with the guitar vise on the end. Wish I had room for a central bench.

Thanks Hesh, Rod and Peter! [:)]

Yeah, i can't wait to hear that baby sing, i resumed working on it today, filling of the cracks and tried Ron's beautiful sander again, what an amazing tool! [:D] Thanks again Ron BTW! It felt really good to be doing something else than reorganizing.

I forgot to mention that to be able to get all that space, i probably threw out a ton of junk that i kept "in case" i'd need for this or that, i'd say that it was much needed and in a certain way, very therapeutic, i now feel much lighter! [:-B] Thanks Brother Hesh!

Rod, a central bench doesn't need to be as big as mine if on wheels, it could just be the size of a guitar station like the one Sylvan Wells has on his website whick can hold a few tops and backs, chisels, scrapers and planes but i'll be the first to admit that i love the size of mine! [LOL] Thanks Bro!

Looking great, Serge. Why don't you wear roller skates while you work and make everything mobile?

I'm anxious to see that guitar done and under finish. I believe it will be a killer!!

I've spent over a week redoing my shop, too and still have a week or two remaining. I've been in this one for nearly 6 years building all kinds of things and never really doing a good cleaning. I threw out a ton of stuff, too
and found things I didn't know I had.   I'll post pics when I'm finished, since I missed the "workshop" thread a couple of weeks ago.

Ron

Thanks alot Ron!

Good idea with the roller skates, it should help me pick up speed and build as quick as Hesh! Nah, i was just day dreaming!

Yeah, it feels great to throw stuff away, sometimes you get to a point where ya just know that you won't use this or that.

Looking forward to see your shop pics my friend!

Serge -- your shop's better organized than a chef's kitchen.

Tools on wheels -- you'll find it real handy.

no Serge,I was going to put some lockable castors on but don't really need to. Its small enough to move around no problem.

Hey hey Mark good to see you back posting again, you must have been busy lately huh?

Yeah, i think i now would be proud to be called a NEAT FREAK!

Hesh shure has somethin' to do with it, the way he was doing it in his bathroom shop was just amazing and i'm thinking that if i can succeed in replicating what he did there, i might get a bigger shop too one day!

Cheers bud!

Serge I wonder if it has something to do with getting that beer swilling alien out of your shop

Looking good there Serge! I really like having things on wheels too, since I'm so old and decrepit it's the only way I can move things around.

WOW Greg, you have a great collection of tools in there and well organized too!

Hesh, i could not imagine going back to the replacement bench i was working on a few months ago, even if i could walk around it, it was a pain to move by myself when needing more space to walk around or to roll some other jig around, you will be happy as a clam bro!
