Is anyone farmiliar with the Hipshot Trilogy (p. 63 of catalogf#110. Sound like a great idea for multiple tunings.

I installed one about a year ago and it was pretty cool. I don't know if I could
give it a fair assessment out of the box though, as I had to make a custom
base to fit the body I was putting it on. If I remember right the only
complaints I had were one or two cams with some burrs that had to be
smoothed. There was also one string (I don't remember which now) that
didn't have enough range to get to the lowest note the customer wanted. To
be fair though they were some widely spaced slide tunings, and it only took
slight modification to reach the notes. It's a cool system if you want to
change tunings live.

I have a couple fitted to my own guitars and I've fitted them for other people. I like them very much.

Performance will vary depending on string gauges and the tunings you want. On my Telecaster, with a sturdy neck and fitted with .10s I can do standard, open G (low bass) and open D without any problems. On the dobro, which is a high bass G tuning with .016s, I find that tuning down to DADF#AD is a bit too far for it to work perfectly - there's a bit too much flex in the whole guitar and I have to make some adjustments to the tuning of the D strings. Consequently on dobro I tend to use it mainly for G6 and G minor tunings, for which it works perfectly.
