I am working on a project for Lance 3d modeling a D size box with the rosette and binding that he is putting on it. These jpegs are dramatical reduced file sizes by 120/1 so there is major resolution loss. I have sent 16to1 reduction to Lance and I think he will vouch that even they are fairly good images. The Idea is to provide the client a way to visualize what they are buying prior to construction. It is still in work.

Very nice. What program are you using to do these wonderful 3-D renderings? Looks like its almost ready to play. And where do you get all the time to do this computer generated stuff? I think a guy could hung up on the computer, making images of guitars and you say the graphics have to downplayed to load on this medium. WOW! I am impressed. Keep the images and ideas flowing Michael. Have a good and productive weekend.

I have to say, that when I sent these images to my client to visualize what he wanted, especially the rosette, he was thrilled to be able to put it all together. The concept into reality. I'm going to be using Michaels services for every single commission from this point on, I think its a huge advantage to allow our clients to see what they are asking for. My experience has been that most people (don't) know exactly what they want, and need lots of assistance. This is both fun and engaging, plus it allows a friendship to develop along the way. Offering this is like icing in the cake. "Is THIS what you had in mind"? If not, well tweak the appointments until were happy..
So yes! I highly recommend Michaels service.

That rosette is nice.... Satinwood?

This 3D service is nice too. Michael, are you offering this as a service? How much do you want to help someone model a guitar.

I would have asked you privately, but I suspect lots of other people would want to know as well.

I'd like the service myself but if we all were to go that route, MP would have no time to build himself. If I remember correctly, he said it takes about 8 hours. I'd be more interested in finding out what his setup is like so I could do it myself. MP, maybe this is a package you could put together to sell to other luthiers? I've alread invested a small fortune in tools and one that would make sales easier would be good investment. Don A38360.8873842593

Yeah... sure, that sounds even better. But I am just literate enough in some programs like photoshop, illustrator, freehand to realize how ILLITERATE I really am.

I suspected this would be the same kind of program. Big front end learning curve.

Hey Michael,

You could create new jpegs for them to silkscreen on to the plastic laminate Martins

The visualization of a design for a customer is a big plus...well done

I use it in my engineering services. Trust me I can make the time to build.

Just to clarify, does it take you 8 hours of labor to make these, or a small amount of time to make it and 8 hours to render it?

Either way, this is very impressive.

Either way, this is very impressive. [/QUOTE] Rendering time is not really very much. For Lance's body the modeling time was eight hours from scratch 80% of it modeling, drawing the model. How ever after I have a model of a specific rosette or body or anything else for that mater I will not have to model that specific part again. Only change the material and lighting affects then render. No matter how many views you want I only charge for the initial build. That is providing I can supply you with the jpg's via email. If you need me to print them for you I would have to charge for the material and shipping. Just so every one knows.
